Our wedding dresses are designed to be casual yet elegant, modern yet nostalgic, and most of all, comfortable. After all, many of our brides are planning to get married on the beach, and it's more difficult than it seems at first to pull off beach elegance. We're here to help you do just that, in style and comfort! We've put a lot of thought and care into our wedding dresses and are always thinking of new prints and new styles. Each wedding dress has a life all its own, and each dress is special to us.
Hawaiian wedding dresses, believe it or not, are something of a "new thing," as are Hawaiian style wedding parties. In fact, the inspiration for the Hawaiian Wedding Shop comes from a seed planted in the mind of one of our founders. Six years ago, while visiting a friend's home on Maui, she saw wedding pictures from her friend's sister's wedding on the wall -- and the wedding party was decked out in matching aloha wear. What a great idea! She had never seen a Hawaiian style bridal party before. There was just one problem: most wedding dresses do not go well with a Hawaiian or tropical theme.
We started PainaGirl.com in 2002 with that in mind; we wanted to share this unique idea with the rest of the world and suggested Hawaiian shirts and dresses for bridal parties. Everyone loved it! People even got married in aloha wear; it didn't need to be white for some couples. However, we thought it wouldn't be right without a beautiful, appropriate wedding dress for the bride, so we set to work designing them. Hawaiian Wedding Shop opened its doors online in October 2002 with the mission of helping couples conveniently create their own perfect, Hawaiian style weddings -- even if they were not in Hawaii. We started out with five dresses and have faithfully added new wedding dresses in new fabrics and new prints since then.
