Description
Dave retired from 31 years of teaching in 1998. A 1967 alumni of Eastern Oregon State College, he spent most of his years as an Elementary P.E. Specialist in Hermiston, Oregon. He was a teacher's union activist, serving on numerous local, regional, state and national committees, serving as a spokesperson or in bargaining and grievances.
The Conklin's recent relocation forced him to resign from the Hermiston School Board and his church Board of Directors; he's been spending most of his time at home thinning out 38 years of accumulations and getting settled in their new home. Dave is looking forward to finding his service-niche in the Walla Walla valley - he loves helping people, and especially loves working with children. He is the founder and Executive Director of Heart for Romania, their non-profit foundation dedicated to helping the less-fortunate and oppressed in Romania. Their Board recently approved expanding the scope and changing the Foundation's name. Roatan is on that agenda!
Dave loves the Lord, is absolutely a morning person, and enjoys most any type of physical activity. He is addicted to distance running and has done countless marathons. He looks forward to getting back into cycling. Dave loves to read, and loves sports of any kind. But his primary passion thee days is doting on his grandsons Ashton, Addison & Aidan.
