- On Thursday 16th December, Euripides Yance found this death threat inside his home in Barranquilla, Colombia. The letter was addressed to Euripides, his colleagues in the foodworkers’ union Sinaltrainal, and to other social activists in the city. This threat, the latest of many, is particularly serious coming less than a week after the Vice-President of Colombia publically stigmatised Sinaltrainal and their boycott of Coca-Cola as the work of leftwing armed rebels. This is a tactic frequently used to discredit civil resistance in Colombia and to justify the violent repression of organisations fighting for social and ecological justice.
