Elke Rosthal brings over a decade of achievement in film and photojournalism to her successful wedding photography business. She has shot events throughout the United States, ranging from informal affairs for 20 people to multi-day celebrations for over 350 guests. An award-winning filmmaker, Rosthal's talent, training, and unique point of view inform her work, creating pictorial narratives out of non-traditional shots and unexpected moments.
Rosthal, who worked as a photojournalist for over a decade in her native Germany before coming to New York in the early 1990's, begins by meeting with the wedding couple and establishing the "personality" of their ceremony. While she includes formal, posed portraits as needed, her approach is to allow the flow of the event determine the pictures, and the photographs are integrated into the action, rather than apart from it.
Satisfied clients include Norman Mailer and Diana Ross (both for the weddings of their children) and references are available on request.
