Elizabeth West Leather is owned and operated by Elizabeth West, a fifth generation San Antonian. While staying home to raise her three daughters, Elizabeth became known in the San Antonio area as a designer and craftsman making beautiful handmade gifts. After her last child went off to college, she started her leather goods business.
Elizabeth's products are handmade the “old fashioned way” with hand-stitching and died edges as well as personalization of most items. All her products are made from “vegetable tanned” leather using natural tannins; it is a slower and more expensive method, but results in a durable rich color leather. Because the hides are natural, they each have their own unique character which may reveal scars or brands. These are not flaws, but are natural characteristics of top grain leather.
