EAA Chapter 1161

Description

Welcome to EAA Chapter 1161's Web site!

EAA Chapter 1161 consists of members form the Central Rocky Mountain Region. Members live as far North as Leadville, CO; as far South as Alamosa, CO; as far East as Canon City, CO; and as far West as Crawford, CO. Our Chapter meets at the Central Colorado Regional Airport in Buena Vista, CO. The

chapter currently has 36 active members with 22 experimental/ certified aircraft flying and an additional 16 aircraft under construction. These aircraft include a museum quality reproduction of a Pietenpol, two aircraft that will race at the 2003 Reno Air Races, a 3/4 size Super Cub with a 2-cylinder VW engine for power, a Russian built Yak, and many more as can be seen by reference to the Photo Gallery page of our web site. The FBO at the Central Colorado Regional Airport has provided the chapter with space to hanger our aircraft during the final stages of construction and an excellent meeting room/library in the facility pictured above. The chapter meets monthly either at the airport or at a members home. Watch the website monthly to learn about upcoming meetings as well as additional information of interest to the experimental aircraft builder.

Our chapter is very active! The members are building/flying a variety of aircraft from vintage Stinson Wagoner, to reproductions of 1930' aircraft, to International Formula 1 Race Planes. In addition, there several RV's in the air or under construction at the present time. This variety of aircraft makes for lively discussions at our meetings which take place around the third Thursday or Saturday of each month. Many of the members fly in to take part in the meetings which tend to be spread out over a wide geographic area.
