District Photo was founded in 1949 as a small black & white photo lab. In the next 40 years, DPI built a large wholesale photofinishing lab serving mid-Atlantic retailers and a national mail order film developing business. In 1998, the DPI family acquired our largest mail order competitor which also brought the Harrier facility in the UK. In 1992, DPI became the only lab to which Eastman Kodak outsourced photo finishing services.
