Description
This site is dedicated to a form of music that we call "Deepfunk", which is a term originally used by Keb Darge as a descriptive title for his club night at Madame Jo Jo's. Over the years the sound has been been driven by the dancers, DJs and collectors and although often misunderstood by many, it has become a way of life for the dedicated few.
To describe Deepfunk as a musical form is tricky, but for most of the dancers and dedicated fans, Deepfunk is soul music. Soul music with attitude, aggression, punch, kick, and bite. Deepfunk is not hip hop.
This site was originally put together at the end of 1999 with the aim of expanding the 'deepfunk scene' and raise worldwide awareness of this new breed of soul music fan. It has recently undergone a make over, and now the main focus is the weekly radio show which we hope will showcase all the records that have become the sound track to our lives as well as all the new discoveries and mega rarities that are rarely heard outside of the lucky circle of dedicated followers.
