Description
The cow's foot consists of two claws and most lame cows have sustained an injury to one of those claws. The principle of elevating the injured claw by gluing a block to the sole of the healthy claw has long been known. The Cowslip works on this principle.
The treatment involves attending to the injured claw with a hoof knife and then fitting a Cowslip to the healthy claw.
Cowslips are made of tough plastic. Shaped like a slipper with a thick sole, the Cowslip fits snugly over the healthy claw of the lame foot and the special adhesive bonds strongly to both the hoof wall and sole. The Cowslip stays on for several weeks and is shed naturally.
