Design for impact

Description

pulled from site's meta description

Design for impact is the first book to look at the development and design of airline safety cards, from the first text-based cards in the 1930s through to the meticulously illustrated cards produced for aircraft as Concorde. The cards display a wide variety of aesthetic approaches, ranging fram late 1950s optimism to contemporary graphic minimalism. Far from complying with a universal standard, the cards reflect the culture in which they were produced. Sometimes crudely drawn and difficult to decipher, early cards were not always a reliable source of visual communication - some even show emergency exits in the wrong locations. The book is also an essential reference source for safety-card collectors and aviation enthusiats. The book is designed and conceptualized by Eric Ericson and Johan Pihl.
