Clarity AG, headquartered in Bad Homburg, Germany, was founded in December 2000, counting among the pioneers of voice portal providers. Mostly financed through the individual resources of its founding members and well-known private investors, Clarity had already reached it's break-even point by October 2001.
In 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 Clarity was one of the few companies to be recognized four times in a row as a finalist for the renowned business award "Entrepreneur of the Year". The award is sponsored by Ernst & Young, and supported by Deutsche Bank, SAP, Deutsche Börse and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, among others. The accolade is awarded for outstanding performance in business and recognized Clarity AG's dedication to the area of voice dialog systems. In addition, Christoph Pfeiffer, Clarity AG Chairman of the Board, was honored by the Economic Forum Deutschland with the "National Leadership Award" in November 2003 and with the "Innovativer Mittelstand" award by the Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken in June 2005. On the Systems 2005, Clarity was awarded with Innovation Area Award for the fastest market entry. The Award was given by IT Adventures AG in order to evaluate extraordinary achievements and to show future trends. The jury consisted of top level managers of Cisco, Microsoft, IBM, Ernst & Young, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and Sun Microsystems.
The Bonn-based subsidiary Clarity Services GmbH founded in September 2001, focuses on the visual components of multimodal dialog systems. It specializes in content management and partners with Vignette.
