My name is Carrie, and I have been raising miniature and toy Australian shepherds since 2001. Although I haven't been breeding dogs very long, I've been working at Midway Animal Hospital in Homosassa, Florida for the past 13-1/2 years. I've worked in all areas of the hospital, but my specialty is surgery. I also assist with many of the orthopedic surgeries that our practice specializes in.
A good friend introduced me to the Australian Shepherd breed. Her dog, "Lady", was extremely forgiving when it came to dealing with her very young children at the time. It was many years later that I was able to get a puppy from her. At only 6 weeks old "Brandy" amazed me with her intelligence. She truly was the smartest dog I had ever had. She was housetrained in days, and already learning tricks. You could see her actually "thinking" about what she was doing. As I learned more about these amazing dogs, I decided to raise them.
