- I have always had a passion for domestic and wild dogs’ and with the way they behave and communicate. The domestic dog we know so well today is a distant ancestor of the wolf, but even today our canine companions still display some of the characteristics of a wolf. Many believe that like the wolf, our pet dogs’ need to be part of a pack and that they need to have a ‘Pack Leader’. In a wolf pack this would be the ‘Alpha Bitch and Alpha Male’. So with this theory, from your dog’s perspective you and your family would be the ‘Pack’, and in this pack you the dog’s owner/s would be the ‘Alpha Leaders’.
