Bronson Log Homes was established in 1992 as a sole proprietorship by Bill Bronson. In April of 1995, Bronson Log Homes became a closely held corporation with the addition of Dean Himes. Between the two men there is over 50 years of experience. Bronson's is a builder of quality, custom hand-crafted log home packages. Therefore, we do not have prebuilt kits, our homes are built per client order.
Our prices vary according to the style and size of building. Usually, $35 a sq. ft. will erect a "log package" on a prepared foundation but, does not include shipping or travel expenses for a small crew. Typically the packages consist of full length hand-crafted logs, roof logs and supports necessary to start framing. Doors, windows, sheeting and other material necessary for the complete home are not normally included in the package, however, we can provide as little or as much as you would like. A 2,000 sq. ft. package would be re-erected in just a matter of a few days, ready for the roof decking. The cost of a finished Bronson home may vary according to the site, style of home and the clients budget. Finished home costs can run from $100 to $200 a sq. ft.
The logs are green or dead standing Engleman Spruce, Western Larch, Lodgepole Pine and Douglas Fir. Bronson Log Homes tries to allow the customer to choose the species of logs as much as possible but, schedules and log availability will sometimes determine the type of log used. The logs are fit by hand-scribing each log to the other using scribes, chisels and chain saws. The logs remain tapered and round on both the inside and outside. Only the bark is removed, peeled with a draw knife, leaving the natural shape of the log. There are no visible splices showing in the walls. This is good both structurally and aesthetically.
