- Ampet Corporation was established and incorporated in 1969. It was originally conceived with the vision to market and develop new products in the emerging new micro-electronics industry of 1969. The founder, Marvin Coren, had previously been employed by Douglas Aircraft, his first employment after college. Douglas Aircraft was under contract to NASA to develop and manufacture exploratory devices for space travel. Mr. Coren participated in the development of several lunar exploration devices. Although these devices were fully developed and successfully tested, they were never used. Man had not yet visited the Moon in the 60's. The prevailing opinion of the moon's surface was a Lunar landscape, completely covered with a deep layer of dust. This dust covered surface would behave like quicksand and trap explorers and their vehicle. During his employment with Douglas Aircraft, a missile was fired into the Moon. Its impact proved that the Moon was not covered with a deep layer of powder, but rather it was composed of a solid rocky surface.
